The laboratory is part of the Environmental Science Group within Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR). It was officially opened in February 2010 and is the successor of the laboratory at the 'De Nieuwlanden' (a former location of Wageningen University). The new laboratory at the campus complex of Wageningen University has different research and educational facilities. The experimental research is mainly focusing on morphological responses to channel flow and overland flow. Current research topics are in the fields of stream restoration, gully erosion and side channels created by longitudinal dams.
